Why Give the Electronic Cigarette a Bad Time?

A recent news story on the BBC is a travesty giving underlying negativity towards electronic cigarettes - a product which clearly can help people give up smoking.

There are many responsible companies selling e cigarettes that have their products tested under EU directives, and are doing there best to run a legitimate business. The media have interviewed the real bureaucracy machine, professors and leaders of government trying to justify their salaries.

Its costs millions to perform in depth clinical trials on a product. This is completely unnecessary as the e cigarette product produces water vapor. The next thing you know they will be clinically testing kettles and steam irons.

Some E cigarettes have nicotine infused in to the vapors thus giving the smoker their nicotine fix much in the same way as patches, nicotine gum and inhalators do, products that presumably have had clinical trials?

Nobody is claiming nicotine is good for you, as we all know it isn’t. However to downplay the real benefits of an e-cigarette compared to a normal cigarette is irresponsible.

This is a simple product which does not contain the carcinogens and dangerous chemicals that are present in a cigarette. The product contains glycol propylene, flavoring and if required - nicotine. The press release didn’t mention that many people smoke electronic cigarettes with zero nicotine content and have completely given up smoking.

If you are worried about Glycol Propylene stop eating biscuits or using lip stick as this is present in most of these products and has been considered safe to use for years.

With this in mind it is time to comment on the benefits of the electronic cigarette or sometimes known as the mini cigarette. The thing that is most offensive with regards to normal smoking, is often, the passive smoking element. This problem is completely solved by the electric cigarette to the point where you can actually use these products legally in pubs. Obviously this smoke-free environment is now made possible within the home of smokers (of electronic cigarettes).

Health for the smoker would be that as you can smoke in doors, you are less likely to draw heavily on the electrical cigarette as apposed to ‘draining your fag’ on your five-minute cigarette break in the cold. Don’t forget we are still mimicking the act of smoking which is often just satisfying enough.

Nobody likes including the negative hygiene side effects of smoking i.e. smelly clothes, smelly hair, smelly breath, yellow teeth and fingers. With the average habit costing a minimum of $7 per day, the saving on cost per drag soon adds up to an overall financial saving.

While we are admitting that these products are not good for you health, they are statistically, about 20 times less likely to cause smoking-related diseases. Which, given the size of the problem within the population and cost to the NHS of the current situation, it ‘i.e. the electric cigarette’ must be commended.

All things considered, this device is definitely a healthier way to smoke!
